Adventure Bude - Year 6 Residential 2025
We have arrived safely! Journey took a bit longer than expected due to the roadworks in Barnstaple, but the kids are excited to be here!

Adventure Bude - Update #1 (19/05/2025) ☀️
The children arrived just in time for dinner last night so after ditching bags, we quickly dashed down to the dining room. After filling up on sausage rolls, the children had some free time to explore the centre and make use of all the amazing facilities Adventure Bude has to offer.
Later in the evening, the children met their instructors for the week. They spent some time together playing games before being released for a disco and more free time.
As always, by bedtime on night one, the children still had bags of energy but did eventually settle down for the night. This morning, the children have been out for the morning run before breakfast, and we are now preparing for a day of climbing and high ropes in the gorgeous Bude sunshine! Keep your eyes peeled for those pictures later today!
Adventure Bude - Update #2
What a glorious day we had yesterday! One of our groups started on High Ropes in the morning whilst the others were on the climbing wall. All children pushed themselves and it was wonderful to see them encouraging each other and their new friends from our other TEAM schools.
In the afternoon, the groups swapped over and showed an equally impressive attitude throughout. After dinner, the children had some free time which they mostly spent eagerly waiting for the shop to open. With the sugar rush complete, they could turn their attention to the 5aside Football tournament and Karaoke evening.
Towards the end of the night, I think it's fair to say that a few regretted their decision to wake up at 5am and we were all certainly ready for bed! A pin could be heard dropping in the corridors last night so today, the children have emerged feeling refreshed ready for Kayaking and Surfing.
Adventure Bude - Update #3 (21/05/2025) ☀️
Another day filled with sunshine! Yesterday, the children were very grateful for some wet activities to cool off and that's exactly what they got. Our first group started at the beach with some surfing and although the sea was fairly calm, a few children managed to catch a few waves.
Meanwhile, our other group was a short distance away on the canal trying out the kayaks! Our groups swapped over and by the end of the day, everyone was wet through and ready for a much-needed shower.
Last night was our fancy dress night and I must say our outfits were very impressive! The children spent their free time enjoying games of pool, party games and a basketball tournament.
Unfortunately, the sun has disappeared this morning as our children emerged for a soggy morning run. However, things do look like they'll cheer up for our mountain boarding and caving sessions later in the day!
Adventure Bude - Update #4 (22/05/2025)
Although yesterday started off a little damp, we were lucky enough to see the sun by the time the children got to their sessions.
For our first group, a morning of mountain boarding. This involved a short walk from centre before tackling the steep Cornish hills on a board. Our other group were based back on site for some caving with a twist. The caving session involved navigating through a series of tunnels around and even underneath the centre!
Yesterday's sessions certainly had all of our children out of their comfort zone for a moment or two and it was great to see how the children overcame these fears and gave things a go. As always, the groups swapped over in the afternoon at which point the sun was well and truly back out and spoiling us.
The children ended the evening with some more free time, Astro turf games and a talent competition.
We are preparing for our final, full day now which means tidying up and organising ourselves before the busy day ahead.
A day of body boarding and team trail awaits our children today, both activities being wet sessions which will be warmly welcomed in today's gorgeous weather.
Adventure Bude - Final update (23/05/2025) ☀️
On Thursday, we were blessed with another gorgeous day and although the children were a little tired, they persevered through and showed a fantastic attitude once again.
Our first group started on Team Trail which is a problem solving and teamwork activity with a soggy twist. The children worked their way through a series of challenges before ending in the 'dunk zone' which I think speaks for itself. The other half of us went down to the beach for some bodyboarding and we were so lucky to have incredible conditions!
The children had little time to dry off before swapping over and getting soaked through all over again! Towards the end of the day, I left the children with Mr Booth as they prepared for their presentation evening party.
The children have one activity this morning before heading home. One group is off canoeing whilst the others are doing a beach walk. The children will be collected at around 12pm and although I'm sure they will be sad to leave this incredible place, I'm certain they are also ready for their own beds and some uninterrupted sleep!
I am incredibly proud of every single one of our Year 6s this week, they have been a credit to our school and have thoroughly deserved every second of this incredible week. I hope they have a lovely Half Term and return to us feeling refreshed and ready for their final chapter!
