London Residential – Final Update 🚌✨

Yesterday afternoon, we set off for London Zoo and, with only two hours until closing time, we set ourselves the challenge of seeing as much as possible (especially the flamingos!). The children loved seeing all of the animals, but the baby apes and walking through the butterfly enclosure proved to be firm favourites. We managed to see everything and even had time to visit the shop to buy some souvenirs.

After the zoo, we headed back to the hostel to pack our bags and tidy up. We then scoffed down some burgers before joining our coach driver for a night-time tour of London. Mr Myers prepared one of his famous London quizzes, which somehow evolved into the whole bus singing K-Pop Demon Hunters! We got off the bus at Buckingham Palace, but unfortunately King Charles was otherwise engaged and couldn’t join us for photos at the front gate.

Another late night and early start meant there were some tired faces as we boarded the bus this morning. We drove out of London early to avoid the Friday traffic and stopped off at Swindon Steam Museum. The children loved exploring the steam trains, especially after our recent Industrial Revolution topic. Before setting off again, we took part in a WW2 workshop where the children explored artefacts and an air raid shelter. They were inquisitive and showed a fantastic learning attitude, which has been evident in every single activity throughout the week.

We are now heading home and, although the children are exhausted, they have hopefully made friends and memories that will last a lifetime. Well done, Year 5 — you have truly made our school proud this week!
