KS1 Buckfast Abbey - Donkey's Tale

Why does Easter matter to Christians?

KS1 Buckfast Abbey - Donkey's Tale

On the last day of term, the children in KS1 had the opportunity to visit Buckfast Abbey and complete the Donkey's Tale workshop. We absolutely lucked out with the weather and, combined with the beauty of the setting, meant that we were filled with a sense of awe and wonder when we arrived to see the Abbey drenched in Spring Sunshine. During the trip, the children had the chance to explore in depth the story of Holy Week through 3 different workshops, including an Easter Egg hunt where they collected tokens to remind them of each part of the story, Easter Egg painting and listening to the story through the perspective of the donkey. Each child was also given a cuddly toy donkey to take home and keep as a special memento of the day. It was a fantastic end to our RW learning this half term which explored the Big Question - 'Why does Easter matter to Christians?' and to a great term of learning in Key Stage 1. Miss Ratcliffe
