Encourage One Another And Build Each Other Up

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another busy and enjoyable week at Witheridge C of E Academy, with lots of exciting events taking place across the school.

On Monday, it was wonderful to see our FSU children enjoying their Sports Day. With the temperatures soaring, our staff quickly adapted the planned activities to include a few more water-based games to help everyone stay cool. It certainly sounded like enormous fun! Several children have already excitedly told me, with huge smiles on their faces, "The teachers sprayed me with water!" It was fantastic to hear how much they enjoyed the afternoon, and a big thank you goes to our staff for their flexibility and creativity in ensuring the children had such a memorable experience while staying safe in the heat.

We were also delighted to welcome Stephen Smith into school on Monday to talk to the children about the partial solar eclipse taking place on Wednesday 12th August. The children were fascinated to learn more about this exciting event and asked some thoughtful questions. If you would like to find out more about the eclipse, including how to observe it safely, please visit the Royal Museums Greenwich website: https://www.rmg.co.uk/whats-on/online/solar-eclipse-august-2026-uk-live-stream.

On Tuesday, we held our whole-school Transition Day. It was a pleasure to welcome our new Reception children into school as they spent time getting to know their new environment and staff. Across the school, every child enjoyed spending the day in their new classes and meeting their teachers for September. It was also lovely to hear that our Year 6 pupils had such a positive experience visiting their new secondary schools. We know this is an exciting milestone, and we hope they returned feeling confident and excited for the next stage of their education.

This evening, your child will be bringing home their end-of-year School Report. This provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the progress they have made throughout the year and to learn more about the next steps in their learning. We hope you enjoy reading about all that they have achieved.

If, after reading your child's report, you have any questions or would like to discuss it further with their class teacher, you are warmly invited to attend our Parent and Carer Drop-in Session on Wednesday 15th July, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to another exciting week as we approach the end of the school year.

Best wishes,

Miss Ratcliffe
