Encourage One Another And Build Each Other Up

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the end of another wonderful school year, there are many opportunities for our children to grow, celebrate and prepare for the exciting changes ahead. Throughout these experiences, we continue to be guided by our Christian vision to "Encourage one another and build each other up" (1 Thessalonians 5:11) and our school value this term of Courage. Whether children are trying something new, supporting a friend or embracing change, these values are at the heart of all we do.

Transition Day – Tuesday 7th July

On Tuesday 7th July we will be holding our annual Transition Day for all children.

Our Year 6 pupils will spend the day at their new secondary schools. Parents and carers of Year 6 children will need to arrange their own transport to and from the secondary schools.

Children in all other year groups will have the opportunity to spend time in their new classroom, meet their new teacher(s), and begin to get to know their new learning environment ahead of September.

Classes for the next academic year:

Foundation Stage Unit (Nursery and Reception)
Mrs North, Mr Hearne, Jayne and Lisa

Class 1 (Year 1)
Miss Coles and Ms Wyborn

Class 2 (Year 2)
Mrs Lewis/Miss Ratcliffe and Mrs Seymour

Class 3 (Years 3 and 4)
Mrs Nott and Miss Barrett

Class 4 (Years 5 and 6)
Mr Manning and Mrs Roberts

How the day will work

  • Children will arrive and register in their current classes as usual.
  • Following a special Collective Worship, they will move to their new classes for the morning.
  • Children will return to their current classes for lunch.
  • They will then spend more time in their new classes during the afternoon.
  • At the end of the school day, children will be dismissed by their current class teacher as normal.

Transition Day is always an exciting milestone, but we know it can also bring mixed emotions. Moving into a new class or a new school takes courage, and we are proud of all our children as they embrace this next step in their learning journey.

As a school family, we will continue to encourage one another and build each other up, ensuring that every child feels welcomed, valued and supported. If your child is feeling worried or anxious about the transition, please do speak to their current class teacher, who will be happy to help and provide reassurance.

A Huge Thank You for an AWESOME Sports Day!

A massive THANK YOU goes to Mr Manning for organising yet another AWESOME Sports Day for our children from Reception to Year 6.

The children were absolutely fantastic throughout the day. They threw themselves enthusiastically into the morning activities and showed excellent determination, teamwork and sportsmanship as they competed alongside their friends during the afternoon events. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and children encouraging one another to do their very best.

Sports Day was a wonderful reflection of our Christian vision to "Encourage one another and build each other up." Everywhere we looked, children were cheering for their friends, celebrating each other's achievements and offering words of encouragement, demonstrating that success is about lifting one another up as well as giving our own best.

The day also showcased our school value of Courage. It takes courage to stand on the start line, to try something new, to keep going when an event is challenging and to show resilience when things do not quite go to plan. Every child demonstrated courage in their own way, and we could not have been prouder of the positive attitudes, determination and respect they showed throughout the day.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who were able to join us. Your support and enthusiastic cheering helped to create such a positive atmosphere and showed the children what it means to be part of a community that encourages one another.

Finally, thank you to all of our staff for supporting Mr Manning and helping the day run so smoothly. Together, our staff, families and children made Sports Day a wonderful celebration of courage, community and the values that make Witheridge C of E Academy such a special place to learn and grow.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

All the best,

Miss Ratcliffe                                                                                                                          Head of School

Important Notices

Dear Parents and Carers,

We (the School Council) are organising a Fundraising Fun Run on Friday 10th July at school to raise money for our school charity of the year, Cancer Research UK. All children from Reception to Year 6 will have the opportunity on the day to complete their run within the school day - we'll make sure we take lots of photos to share with you.

We think it's a good idea because it will help raise money and it will keep us fit, too.

It's really easy to sponsor us and help us raise money for Cancer Research UK - all you have to do is scan the QR code on the poster, or follow this link and it will take you straight to our fundraising page:

https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/witheridgecofeacademy-giving-page-271072

Because of your generous donations, we have already raised more than £500 for Cancer Research UK so far, but we'd LOVE to raise even more to help people who are affected by cancer.

Thank you so much for your support.

Yours sincerely,

The School Council.
