🌟 Another Eventful Week at Witheridge! 🌟
We have had a busy and rather unusual end to our week at Witheridge C of E Academy! While unexpected challenges sometimes test our patience—as the old saying goes, "these things are sent to try us"—they also give us a wonderful opportunity to put our faith into action. In Romans 5:3-4, we are reminded that challenges build perseverance, character, and hope. It has been truly heartening to see our whole school community pull together with patience, flexibility, and kindness, living out our school vision: “Encourage one another and build each other up.”
🛢️ School Closure & Boiler Room Update We certainly had a bit of a strange ending to our week following an oil spill in our school boiler room. This was dealt with swiftly by our Premises Manager and the spill itself was completely cleared up. However, due to the strong smell lingering inside the building, we took the decision to remain closed to ensure everyone's safety and comfort. We are very hopeful that the smell will have completely dissipated by Monday so that we can return to school as normal. We will keep you updated over the weekend in due course, and we thank you all so much for your swift action and understanding when collecting your children.
🌾 Harvest Festival On Wednesday, we enjoyed celebrating our Harvest Festival! While it was a shame that we were unable to make our usual visit to the Church, we were so lucky that Adrian, the Vicar, was able to visit us at school instead and lead our Festival. The children thoroughly enjoyed the service and reflected wonderfully on the importance of gratitude and sharing with others.
📚 SIAMS Inspection Postponed We were all geared up and ready for our planned SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) inspection to take place on Thursday. Due to the emergency school closure, this has now been postponed. We will let you know the rescheduled date as soon as we have it confirmed.
💬 Parents’ Evening A huge thank you to those parents and carers who were able to attend Parents’ Evening on Wednesday—it was lovely to share and celebrate your children's progress with you. For those who had appointments booked for Thursday, these have all been moved to the exact same times next week on Thursday 15th October. If there is any problem with this new date for you, please contact the school office and we will be happy to assist.
As we reflect on a week that didn't quite go to plan, it has been wonderful to see our community living out our vision, “Encourage one another and build each other up,” through every bump in the road. 💙
Thank you again for your continued support, patience, and understanding. Have a peaceful and restful weekend!
