School Closure Update

As the Prime Minister has announced the closure of all schools to all but keyworker children, I write to you to outline our plans.

The provision is to support keyworkers who have no other option but to use us and we will try and keep a skeleton staff in all schools. I'm hoping to distribute as many staff as possible to online learning to help support you all. We are very happy to be as flexible as possible so if you only need us for an hour, that's absolutely fine and we will be totally adaptive to support you. It will help us hugely if you only use the provision you need.

Please let your school office know of your childcare needs so we can staff as appropriately. I appreciate this is not possible for tomorrow morning! A packed lunch please tomorrow and school uniform as usual, please.

Tomorrow staff will not be as quick to support with home learning as we do not know how many of you will attend. There will be online learning tomorrow but it will probably not be from 9am as we sort out our in-school provision when we know numbers. Once we have a good idea of the capacity needed in school, we will have a super slick online learning provision for the length of the lockdown.

I want you to know that we will do all we can to support those who need to use the school site and those home-educating. We are, of course, saddened to not welcome all your children back as intended but please rest assured that we will be very present and available to help support you all through this next period of time.

Life, Love and Learning to the Full

Judged to be an 'Excellent' Church of England School (SIAMS Inspection November 2019)

Welcome to Pilton Bluecoat Academy, a friendly and happy school, where we put an equal emphasis on high academic achievement alongside personal and social development. As a Church of England school we link our children's personal growth to well defined Christian values that provide a secure roadmap for life. Importantly, we warmly invite all children and families from our local area to be part of our school community.

Our school is situated on the edge of the North Devon town of Barnstaple and provides education for children in Years 3,4,5 and 6. The school has an excellent reputation and provides a vibrant and harmonious community for its children and staff. Our children benefit from a wide range of curriculum activity and specialist teaching, with much of their learning taking place away from the classroom in a practical and active context.

The school is part of the TEAM Multi-Academy Trust along with its rural partners from Brayford, Umberleigh, High Bickington and Witheridge Academies.
